Judy Nye - Resident Artist
A sampling of Judy's work
Judy Nye is a local artist, who has adopted Vero Beach as her home. As an avid scuba diver, Judy has enjoyed the tropical environment of marine life for many years. While living in the Cayman Islands, she enjoyed painting scenes from nature and the sea with that up-close and personal look. As a potter, she also created a series of whimsical ceramic wind-bells, pots, platters, and vases with that Caribbean Sea flair.
Judy has been painting since the age of 10, when she began painting animals and family portraits on her mother’s old canvas window shades. Paralleled with a career in nursing, Judy continued to study art at Northeastern Oklahoma College and Southern Nazarene University, where she painted for relaxation and personal enjoyment. While living in Northern Virginia, she discovered her love for clay at Glen Echo Pottery and learned to combine her painting with her pots. She now creates artful ceramics at her “SeaBreeze Pottery Studio” in Vero Beach.
