Keko - Founder & Resident Artist

Artist Karen “Keko” Ekonomou is a Vero Beach native and an accomplished acrylic painter, however, her most recent adventure has taken her back to her true love . . . working in mud and clay! I’m now a Clay Artist taking my paintings into three dimensions.” She showcases her work in Winter Park, Melbourne and in Vero Beach, where she co-founded Flametree Clay Art Gallery and remains a resident artist.
Keko’s work is inspired by her extensive travels to Mexico and the Bahamas, her Greek husband’s heritage, and her love of the sea. She brings to life flamboyant “characters” plucked right from the ocean or shoreline. “I have fun creating them but I have more fun watching people stop and look at them. I see them smiling and often giggle, and it makes me feel like I have really done my job.”
