Peggy Thomas - Resident Artist
Peggy Thomas has been an artist all of her life. Art has been her life’s journey from drawing to painting, pastels and quilting. Through it all, clay has been her passion. She began claywork in a college class and apprenticed with a production potter in Ohio where she created functional stoneware on the wheel. After moving to Florida, she taught art in the Indian River County school system, retiring to begin teaching Bikram Yoga and clay classes at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Since then she has set up a home studio, built a Raku kiln at home, and joined Flametree Clay Art Gallery. She continues to create functional stoneware as well as her love, Raku, including boxes, vases and sculptures. Her artwork is almost always a celebration of nature and its many rich colors and variations. Adding a bit of the whimsical creates a chuckle of discovery both for the viewer as well as for her.
